First Book Report
Today for homework, R & I were to read a book and then create a story cake about the book. He chose one of his favorites "Skippyjon Jones In Mummy Trouble" by Judy Schachner. (we have a few of the Skippyjon Jones stories)
The short version of the story is that Skippyjon Jones is a siamese cat with rather large ears. He likes to have adventures in his closet where he pretends to be a chihuahua. In this story, Skippyjon is reading a magazine about mummies. He then goes into his closet and his adventure begins, where he meets his other chihuahua dudes in search of the mummy peas. Skippyjon's 3 little sisters scare him in the closet, wrap him up like a mummy and have their fun. After his own mommy helps him to feel better, he goes to bed, but not before checking for mummies ! It is a cute adventure story and the boys really enjoy them.
So for our story cake, we had to make a 3 layer cake telling the story in 3 sentences. I wanted to share R's retelling of the story in his own writing.

In the beginning...
"He was readen about cat mummes"
and then...
"He wint into his clozit"
It ended like this...
"He got pees."
I was so proud of how he thought of each sentence and sounded each word out while writing. It was a fun experience for us both. I can't wait for the next one!
Grace LOVES SkippyjonJones! Way to go Smart boy!
